We learned some valuable lessons in this class! We would love to hear from you on a take away you came from class with!

- Asking questions-listening
- Lead by example
- Provide framework
- Support-encourage
- Learn how they learn-teach in a way they can learn
- Mentoring
- Create a positive atmosphere
What did you learn??
So far out off the all Captain Series classes I have taken this was by far my favorite!! There was so much I learned and was able to relate to with my daily activities as a care coordinator!! The examples we used in class really helped with some situations I was currently dealing with in our local office. Thank you Terri for such a great class!!!
I enjoyed every minute of this class. Great job learners!!!
What did I love about this class… hmm… ALL OF IT! For starters, I love how everyone in attendance was engaged. It was great to hear from various roles and titles in the room. I’ve been studying my book since leaving class and looking for positive ways to encourage those on my team with the R.I.S.E. Mentality. Since this class, I’ve even had the opportunity to sit with Gwen and ask her to help me see what I cannot see myself. I walked away from that conversation feeling empowered and assured that we were moving in the right direction.
I will be consciously reminding myself that my very best tools are our WORDS and our HEARTS. I will focus on the WHY rather than the WHAT & HOW.
Thank you for this empowering class. 🙂

All i can say is WOW!! This class rocked! there were several points that hit home, like don’t answer all their questions. Make them think for themselves. I would just kinda be irritated some days because it would be none stop how about this, what do you think about that, should I? Now i will be challenging my group by asking them “what do you think.” I love the R.I.S.E. concept and look forward to using it!
Like Emily said i will focus on the Why instead of the What and How!!
Great class!
🙂
I enjoyed every part of this class. I love every single culture class that is available, but this one was my favorite! So much valuable information and tools that we can use to be the best coach!
Some of my favorite information that I took away is:
1.) Coaching is different than Managing
a.) Coaching is hands on, helping someone reach their goals, letting them discover what is on the menu vs. telling them what they are seeing
2.) Terri taught on Rise—We can use this tool in any situation, whether we need to coach to encourage behaviors or coach to correct behaviors
o R-Results: What happened?
o I-Identify: What did we learn from doing this?
o S-Shift: Shift actions based on learning
o E-Execute: A New Plan!
3.) Terri also taught about praising your highest performer in front of an audience
a.) It is still ok to praise your lowest performer, but not in front of an audience
b.) Example: Suzy arrives to work 10 minutes late every day and the other team members arrive on time every day—If Suzy arrives to work on time, don’t praise her in front of anyone, send her an email. The other team members are going to be wondering why they are not praised for always arriving to work on time
Can’t wait to continue my education at PHU!

I have not yet been to this class but will be soon. Meanwhile I LOVE THIS BLOGGING STUFF, I feel I can learn a little until I get there just by reading the blogs. Thank you to ALL!
I absolutely loved this class. I want to be be able to coach and not just teach people. I want the people that work under me to feel empowered and confident in what they are doing. I really enjoy the coaching that Terri Tucker for the Phoenix employees. Thank You Terri. I am ready to soar with Phoenix.
This class was amazing! I cannot wait to implement the things I learned and will update as it happens. Thank you Terri.
I attended the Coaching for Performance session on 4/10/18. It was an amazing class. Learned a lot yet I see there is a lot more to be learned. As always, it was nice seeing/meeting people who I talk to everyday but didn’t have a face to go with the name. I look forward to the opportunity to learn more of what is to come. Thanks Terri! You “ROCK”!
Great class, as always. Love the RISE framework for use with all behaviors. Class brings useful tools in all coaching situations.
This class was amazing! I love the do not accept the “head nod” for an answer. Also, asking them to commit to doing something and then following through and holding them accountable to their commitments. As always another awesome class with so many thoughts on ways to use all of the new tools in the toolbox! THANK YOU!
All, I am so pleased to see the many comments from this week’s Coaching For Performance Class. I can see the Take Home Value to your branches will bring about substantive results!
Keep Reaching, it’s working!

Loved the Coaching for Performance class! Look forward to implementing RISE and I plan to be very intentional about making more deposits rather than withdrawals.
This class was fantastic, great information. One behavior at a time, this will be key in my success in using RISE. And I loved that Terri reminded us “High tides raise all boats”. Thank you for these valuable tools, I am excited to see the outcomes with RISE : )
This has been my favorite class so far! When I was role playing with my partner, we actually used a real-time scenario and came up with some thoughts and plans to consider. I also immediately showed my leadership nurses the Six Keys to Corrections and went through the goals and presentation of that model, which I know is highly effective. This was an amazing class and so thankful we have access to these learning opportunities!!!
There was a lot of things that I learned from Coaching for performance. One thing that really stood out to me is that you need to coach exact behaviors. Do not be vague in what you are wanting to correct or something you want to praise on….be specific! RISE is a great tool to be able to get to the point of what needs to be addressed whether it be a positive or something that needs correction. One last thing I want to point out that I learned is that try to catch that person doing that positive behavior and draw attention to it while they are in the act!
I cannot wait to take this class!!!! I have heard so many great things about it!
You are going to love it! I can’t wait to sign you up!
I agree with Melanie Upshaw- this has been my favorite class so far as well. This class truly served as a “mirror” and revealed to me the areas I need to work on in regards to coaching. Making sure I’m asking questions was my big takeaway from the class, but definitely not the only takeaway. I also loved the guidance of how to put these learning tools into practice. Very grateful to have a position with a company (and their leadership) that looks at the details and invests in their people.
