I really learned so much today! What a great experience, I have to say learning about conflict was my favorite part, as I hate conflict and really don’t like it when everyone doesn’t get along! I feel like I now know how to deal with dramas and conflict without being the bad guy! I am sure i brought away a lot more but by head is so full of new knowledge i just cant get it all out! i’m very excited for future classes and growing with my phoenix family!

Taking Flight was an AMAZING class! The class taught us how to be a team in a efficient and very smart and also very realistic way! I also am part of the 90% of people who prefer to not have conflict. Taking flight helped me understand how we can handle our differences in the work places in a professional way. I learned not just professional ways to handle conflict but great ideas I can take with me home as well. I also loved learning the basics of organizing my work and home life in such a manner that its efficient and simple.( Being and adult can be stressful!) Terri Tucker did a wonderful job showing us how to lighten our load and rely on each other! I also enjoyed getting to know the new Phoenix Employees and hearing how excited we all are to be in such a wonderful team. These classes are so upbeat fun! I loved every bit of learning how to function on this awesome team!

This was my second opportunity to take Taking Flight and this class never disappoints! I could listen to Terri Tucker speak all day every day. She has such confidence and wisdom to impart!! While I learned so much in this class, I would like to focus on the 8 to elevate. I sincerely appreciate the training regarding #4 Create Moments and Be Present In Them. This is such a profound concept especially in today’s society when we are always looking forward to the next big thing while desiring instant gratification. The book says it best, “whole days lie ahead of us, but the magic of our Mission lies in the MOMENT.” We need to make an effort every day to turn off the auto pilot and “find the opportunities to emotionally connect with those we serve.” We can do this by FOCUSing and creating emotional linkage. Emotional linkage is the emotional connection we make with another person. We do this by making enriching relationships a goal of each interaction, according to the taking flight manual. These are such words to live by, not only in our interactions with those we serve at Phoenix, but with every individual we are given the opportunity to meet, touch, or impact. “They may forget what you said — but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
    —Carl W. Buehner
Such amazing words to live by and such a simple concept to create big change in the world! Thank you Terri, Teresa, Charlie and Max!

What an amazing class! Learning how Phoenix has been set up to not only help serve the clients, it shows the employee just how important we are as well! I came from an employer where I was not much more that an ID number, Phoenix has really made me feel so special! Thank you for an informative yet entertaining class! I loved it!

This by far,is the absolute best training I have ever attended. I laughed, I cried just as they said I would. The best part was being able to be “myself” at work, literally. Ive never worked for an employer that genuinely cares and it shows in every single person in this company. Taking Flight meant the world to me as I, since learning the meaning behind the Mythical Phoenix see myself as one. Taking Flight helped me see so much more and open up so much more professionally or at least I feel like I could. LOL
To have someone at work get up close and personal and not use your past against you is a wonderful feeling. When we placed our negative thoughts and fears into that bucket and Terry lit it aflame…….the best exhale one could take. the next was when she dipped the Phoenix feathers in the ashes, it signified that change for me. It was so much more personal than they could have ever imagined. Thank You Phoenix,
    God bless

Taking Flight was an excellent class. I was blown away by the training we received. The instructors showed such passion for the culture that they conveyed to us. We were encouraged to apply the culture to every aspect of our job and personal lives.
We were given opportunity to share something about ourselves with the class. It was amazing to see how Phoenix touch each individual in a personal way. Phoenix was a fresh start for so many within this class. For me, I have always seen every job as a place to earn a paycheck. However, this is not so with Phoenix. Here we all have a purpose, and we are encourage to go beyond our potential. We each play a significant role in improving the well-being of our clients.
If I had to take away one thing from this class, it would be how the culture plays a significant part in the everyday responsibilities of Phoenix. For example, I am reminded of a several phone calls that I had with several insurance companies. These calls were not always easy. When I reach such moments, I am reminded of step 6 of the 8 principles of flight…”we are to manage turbulence.” This means placing myself in the shoes of the individual on the other end of the line, and remembering that we both are doing our jobs.
This class encouraged me to look at my job differently. I keep the 8 Principles of Flight on the wall of my cubicle, so that I am reminded of what is expected of me.

      LIndsey,
I enjoyed reading your Taking Flight Class take away. You hit the nail on the head when you said culture plays a significant part in the everyday responsibilities of Phoenix. You have given great reminders on the principles of flight and I look forward to seeing you soar with Phoenix!

What a great opportunity! I have never had an employer who invested SO much time, money, and resources. The culture at PHC is completely different than any place I have ever worked. I am honored to work with such great people, and I cannot wait for the next opportunity.

I had the pleasure of attending Taking Flight. If I am honest I was expecting another boring orientation type session; but what I came away with was so much more! When I was interviewed for this position I thought to myself “There is something different here; but there has to be a catch!” I have therefore been waiting to find the hidden secrets or the skeletons in the closet you might say (and I am definitely still waiting). Instead of walking into a room with instructors who look like they are counting down the time until the class was over even more so than the students (as expected); I walked into two beautiful smiling faces, upbeat attitudes and uplifting music. We took so much time in the beginning to get to know each other’s stories and backgrounds which yet again proved to me that Phoenix cares ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES as much as their clients.
I learned so much during the class it is hard to pin point just one but one thing that stuck with me was the fact that there will be conflict in any workplace no matter how wonderful the company is and thanks to the training today I believe I can approach it in a professional yet caring way and achieve an outcome that is in the best interest of everyone! Thank you for this opportunity it was a great time spent with amazing people!

I attended the June 7th session. I appreciate working for an agency that focuses on the staff, as well as the clients. It speaks volumes for the expected standards when Phoenix takes the time to properly train about the culture.
As a nurse, I desire to establish “emotional linkages” with clients and coworkers. I appreciate Phoenix’s permission to show empathy to hurting individuals from the administration to the field. While I know there will be struggles, it is comforting to know, I am not expected to deal with them alone.

This class was so much fun! Hearing the history of how Phoenix got the company name and other more personal stories made me feel like I was at home. Something that really stuck out to me in the class is when we were discussing the mission statement and the “I will’ statements, how big of an impact the work ‘daily’ has. It’s important to demonstrate our mission daily, not just the days we feel like it.

I’m not usually real hyped about training classes, but the Phoenix Taking Flight class was so much! We learned all about how and why the Phoenix name and symbol was chosen. It was such a great story. I will never look at the phoenix bird the same way! So inspiring. I loved how much fun the class was and it was great getting to meet phoenix employees from other places. A great bunch of people. What an awesome and entertaining way to be welcomed into the Phoenix family!!
