In this class we defined a Coach as a mentor, supporter, a compassionate person that can redirect constructive direction (criticism). How do we Coach? We think outside the box, step up to the plate and praise more than we correct. We let people be great and know what “great” feels like. We can use the tools in our toolbox to help us Coach, 8 to Elevate, X-Factor, our Mission and Axioms. Also in our Culture we want to look at ourselves before pointing fingers. Occasionally we will have to manage turbulence by utilizing FLIGHT. What did you learn in Coaching for Performance and what “tools” have you implemented?

I was really anticipating this class, and it did not disappoint. Coaching…help me see what I can’t see for myself…it is my place to help my team see opportunities in situations, that they themselves cannot see. That is one way to define coaching. When or why do we coach? To encourage behaviors we want to see, or that are getting results, and to correct behaviors negating results so we can get the positive performance we desire.
Here are some things I need to check for myself; am I doing self
 Guiding towards goals while supportive, and offering encouragement while being compassionate
 Am I giving them the foundation/tools they need?
 Am I casting a clear vision of expectation of desired goals?
Some team members are happy “living in the silt” instead in the main stream where all the activity and growth are. The “coach” has to be the one to stir up the “silt”. Have I done what I need to stir my team members up, and get them excited about reaching their goals?
Love this saying: You can’t change them, you can only change you, and changing you will create a change in them! . If someone on my team is not growing, learning, or changing when needed, I see this as my personal failure. I am, however, aware that this is the individual team members responsibility as well. I can provide the tools, assistance, and other things needed, but if they do not grasp them, and take the initiative for their own personal growth, they will fail, no matter how hard I try. Loved this class! Thanks!

This by far was one of my favorite classes. I am looking forward to being able to apply what I have learned. I feel like those hard to have conversations will be much better in the future because of the tools learned in this class. Most important thing I learned is that I can not change people but I can always change me.

I truly enjoyed this class. Absolutely loved RISE and found the 6 key questions very helpful. One thing I took away from this class was that I recognize the positive behaviors not the person. As always Terri was amazing!!!

This class could not have come at a better time for me. I loved taking a deeper dive into “R.I.S.E.” conversations. This will be detrimental to not only my growth as a leader but, to my team as well. The biggest take away I had from this class was when Terri said a coach asks more questions than they give answers. So often I find myself giving the answers which does not allow my team to grow. Moving forward I will be an active listener and ask more questions.

This class was very eye-opening. RISE is something that I can see myself using for many things, and have actually already implemented in an ongoing issue that I have had. I look forward to seeing how well this work and plan on using it in my personal life, as well.

Something else that really stuck was, “Do not praise or discipline people, praise of discipline the behavior”. Plus, before I coach, I should take a look in the mirror and make sure I am not above what I am coaching. I should want them to succeed not only for company, but for them as well.

This class was so very helpful! The steps associated with RISE were very insightful and I will use them in the future! “Leadership is what we DO, not who we are!” Love that! Great class! As always, Terri does not disappoint. Always delivers a dynamic class!

I love the idea of leading someone to find their own answers. Pushing to action and listening. Asking “what are you going to do about It?” or “now what?”. Encourage behaviors that producing results. It works when working out a problem for yourself as well… I’ll often think “now what?”. Time to act. The 30, 60, 90 day eval are very helpful. Follow up is key. I’ve been trying to build those relational tabs and avoid “keeping score”. It’s freeing. As always, Terri Tucker is a blessing and provides tools for growth.

I learned that the manager looks at the number but the coach looks at the person.

Coaching= guidance, leading by example, asking questions, , encouragement, creating a positive atmosphere.

Am I willing to commit to get to the vision? YES!

RISE conversations arepart of my life today. Thank you Terri

Coaching for Performance. I got a lot out of this class with going up in management while at Phoenix this is a class that taught me had to become a better Leader. I learned that Leadership is more of what we do not who we are. Sometimes as a Leader we have to just Listen to our staff and then coach them in a way that helps correct behaviors. Some of the best tools we can use is our words and our hearts to help create a positive behavior. Do not praise or discipline attitude. I learned that i must address the behavior which can be duplicated by co-workers. I also have learn to ask more questions such as when they ask me a question i in return ask a question back instead of giving them the answer i help them to find the answer. I really enjoyed this class and taken what i learned and put into action.

One of the things that stuck out for me was for Leaders to encourage behaviors that brings results. Encouraging your team to share their thoughts and ideas helps them have ownership in their job, and it becomes “my company” and not just “my job”. Celebrate the good behaviors and out comes of your team and or team members.

I loved this class! Not only can I use it at work but I use it at home with my children as well!!! Some of the key points that really stood out to me were:

*We Do Not Coach People, We Coach Behavior – This has really allowed me to see coaching from a completely different perspective.

*Asking Questions Instead of Giving Answers – This is huge for me! I can be a little on the controlling side 🙂 I most definitely give answers and would rather do something myself so I know it is exactly how I want it. I am working on being a better listener and asking more questions.

*I love love love RISE! I have actually used this myselft to reach a goal. I had a result that I needed to improve. I identified my current process and what I learned. I figured out what I needed to do differently. Then I set a measurable plan with a goal. And it worked 🙂

Thank you for these awesome classes!! I always looking forward to the next!
